The exact location and orientation of the fault has been transferred to the inside of the back. The "island" of wood above lies directly below the crack on the top. A shallow groove has been cut around, and all that remains is to carefully break out the enclosed wood, which after cleaning up can be used to make the inlay piece. The grain and colour match should be excellent.
