Some years ago I was given a birthday gift by my wife Joanne: it was a short series of classes in Bookbinding, given by a local binder, Jill Wilmott.
My daughter Norah came along as well, and we have both remained fascinated by the history and practice of this remarkable craft. Norah has since gone on to work in the publishing industry, pursuing (for now) her letterpress and binding enthusiasms in her spare time. For me, too, the actual art of bookbinding remains a hobby, but my professional self has turned a creative eye on the traditional equipment & tools of the trade.
I'd like to think that these pieces are not only highly functional traditional tools, but also attractive pieces of furniture.
All of the pieces here are available as a made-to-order item. For current prices check the price list , or contact me for information about special sizes.
I'm also looking for any feedback on these designs, as well as suggestions for other tools and larger equipment that could be added.
